At 8:00 am on a Friday our phone rings at our headquarters in São Paulo, Michele answers a call from the city of Rio de Janeiro.

On the other end of the line a girl desperate to hire our forensic cleaning services.

The person informs that they urgently need specialized cleaning, as they discovered a week ago that a resident of one of the properties inside a condominium died in the bathroom and the smell due to decomposition is bothering the other residents.

On Saturday morning we were in the city of Rio de Janeiro and the person who had hired us was responsible for managing the properties in that location.

She informed us that she would be waiting for us at the corner of Avenida Niemeyer and Estrada do Vidigal, as soon as she saw our car near the ascent of the hill, she signaled and we were entering Morro do Vidigal.

Morro do Vidigal is a neighborhood in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro where the Vidigal Community is located.

We were informed that the body had still taken an extra day to be removed from the site for reasons of security and logistics of police vehicles to go up to the place to make the removal.

When we arrived it was a set of 12 houses, like apartments, the view was magnificent, it gave the impression of being inside the sea. Some say it's the most beautiful view in Rio de Janeiro.

The odor was strong and the residents of the neighboring houses asked God to solve the smell issue.

As soon as we entered, we saw the dirt of blood and a lot of mosquitoes inside the property. We immediately fixed the situation of the mosquitoes by applying insecticide around the area.

Soon we did the first cleaning of the room that had blood on the cold floor and then the toilet and kitchen.

The 33-year-old resident of the apartment died sitting on the toilet.

Residents were only suspicious because of the odor that denounced what had happened.

On the walls of the toilet you could see larvae walking, on the floor and in the washbasin and shower there were also many. Some even walked on our protective coveralls.

The cleaning of this environment was done meticulously, we had to remove even the sanitary basin to properly perform the disinfection. Doors were also removed to perform proper sanitization.

After removing all the dirt and disinfecting, we apply a chemical product in the air to eliminate possible viruses and bacteria that could still be left.

All material was dispensed in a container left by the City of Rio de Janeiro that would be taken for disposal

About 10 bags of 100 liters came out with contaminated objects and bactericidal cloths used for cleaning.

There were 08 hours of non-stop work, to be able to make the place habitable again.

All objects and furniture were sanitized and remained in place, the former resident's family would give an adequate destination to what was left.

Finally, the neighbors thanked us for our efficiency and how quickly we solved the problem, mainly removing the odor that bothered so much.

The property manager also thanked us and they were kind enough to accompany us to the exit of Vidigal that, in minutes after our departure, the entrance to the Community was completely closed by the police.
