What are the requirements for cleaning crime and trauma scenes?

Cleaning up the crime scene and postmortem is demanding work. As a crime scene cleaner, you will be called upon to manage a wide variety of situations and must be able to professionally put together even the most horrific scenes. If you are interested in pursuing a career in crime scene cleaning, it will be helpful to better understand what the job entails before beginning any crime scene cleaning training.

It is important first of all that you have:

Compassion. Crime scene cleaners face a wide range of tragic circumstances and must be able to provide support and reassurance to families.

Energy. The job of a crime scene cleaner can be physically challenging and requires technicians to wear biohazard suits, full face masks, respirators, and multiple sets of gloves.

Training. Our company, Attuale Brasil, requires training in cleaning crime and post-mortem scenes. To work with us, Attuale Brasil itself provides rigorous training, educating them on best practices, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and risks of safety, such as exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Integrity. As clients trust crime scene and postmortem cleanup teams with their homes, personal possessions, and safety, integrity is a must. At Attuale Brasil we require random drug testing and require candidates to undergo a background check.

Commitment. Families often require crime scene cleaning services at different times, but we have to respect condominium rules and local city council rules for transporting infectious material or removing flooring and wood. Therefore, crime scene cleaners must be dedicated to their work and have flexible availability.

Attention to the details. Crime scene cleanup can result in numerous health risks, so following protocol and paying close attention to detail is critical.

Attuale Brasil does more than just clean a postmortem site – we thoroughly sanitize the affected area with special cleaning agents and are able to remedy situations that typical cleaning services cannot.

Although crime scene cleaning is not an officially regulated industry, there are restrictions, regulations and guidelines that all crime scene and post-mortem cleaning personnel must follow to ensure public health and safety. These protocols are supervised by agencies such as the National Health Surveillance Agency.

Since 2010, Attuale Brasil has been an industry leader in crime scene, post-mortem, trauma and biohazard removal services. At Attuale Brasil, we believe that our people are what make the difference and that our compassionate, highly trained and committed technicians help set us apart.
